EARLY TREATMENT

Dr. Jet, in accordance with the American Association of Orthodontists, suggests that all children may benefit from an orthodontic evaluation as early as age 7. An early phase of treatment can be started by ages 8 or 9. This phase of treatment can straighten the permanent front teeth and, more importantly, relieve crowding and create space for the remaining permanent teeth to come in. Creating this space can reduce the future likelihood of extraction of permanent teeth to create space. Phase I (early intervention) can also correct existing jaw growth and bite issues. Dr. Jet suggests you follow the guidance of your family or pediatric dentist regarding the best time to schedule orthodontic evaluation.
